Bachelor's Degree Program in Archaelogy
Why Archaeology Program at European University?
In the bachelor program of Archaeology, special attention is given to archaeological field practices, which are taught as a mandatory component over the span of three semesters. During these practices, students use modern technologies to master the fundamental principles essential for reconnaissance, excavation, and camera work.
A key factor facilitating these practices is the existence of the university's permanent archaeological expeditions, ensuring comprehensive student involvement in archaeological research.
Within the undergraduate archaeology program, students are provided opportunities to engage in local and international scientific research projects, field archaeological expeditions, conferences, and various scientific events.
Since 2018, the European University has been home to the Andria Apakidze Institute of Archaeology. Additionally, it houses the first historical-archaeological museum in the Georgian private university domain. This museum has a range of significant archaeological collections. To support its educational programs, the museum space is outfitted with contemporary technical tools, facilitating both cognitive and practical educational experiences for students.
Beginning in 2018, the Institute of Archaeology and the Historical-Archaeological Museum at the European University, both named after academician Andria Apakidze, commenced publishing a scientific research journal titled "Archaeology." This journal plays a pivotal role in showcasing the research findings of students, in collaboration with the academic and guest faculty associated with the university program.
