Alikya Chipurupalli, a student of European University Faculty of Medicine participated in 68th IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations) General Assembly March Meeting between the 1st and 7th of March 2019 in Slovenia. IFMSA is one of the main medical student organizations in the world.
The Congress with a multiple session and section structure focused on the issues of medical curriculum, clinical part, integrated or separate approach, teacher-student equality in decision making, social accountability and public health. The event was also interesting in terms of initiatives of international exchange programs represented by Global Exchange Capacity session.
At Global Priorities event where the participants were given short contexts and worked in groups, Alikya gave a presentation on Antimicrobial Resistance. It is also noteworthy that she took part in joint sessions with SCOME (Standing Committee On Medical Education at IFMSA) on academic quality assurance.
On the final day, the participants voted for amendments in several documents.
The congress opened new opportunities for the medical students of European University. The Faculty will continue cooperation with IFMSA and its Georgian branch to ensure more engagement of its students in global medical education.
